Work Placements and Opportunities

We work with our clients to create action plans based on employment goals and aspirations. This can range from participating in a work placement with a local employer to entering one of our voluntary programmes or paid employment opportunities in a selection of occupational areas. Our work placements act as a pathway to support and encourage our clients into sustainable employment within their chosen career field.

PAVE (Pathways for Adults Volunteering in Education)

PAVE is an 8 week programme that gives participants an opportunity to volunteer within a school setting, either within the classroom or supporting with clerical tasks within the school office. Participants will also gain an employability related qualification at SCQF level 4 as well as work-based qualifications including Emergency First Aid at work.

Additionally, participants will be supported by an Employability Officer to develop CVs, job applications and plan a structured pathway to future employment following the 8-week programme.

Here’s what some of our participants said about the programme:

“Overall I find the programme is a great tool for parents who want to return to work and are in lack of recent working experience. It gives you some on-place experience and with it, more chances to get a job when applying for it, as usually, previous experience is generally required.” Anon

PAVE is an amazing opportunity, one which I hadn’t heard of until I asked the council for help. I am so glad I did! What a great stepping stone for adults to be part of. The staff are beyond helpful, they were so encouraging and supportive. I 100% feel they deserve more recognition and the programme more advertisement. It has quite literally changed my life!” Anon

“Without the experience and courses that the PAVE course provided I wouldn’t have been able to secure a position as a School Assistant. ” Anon

I loved that it gave me experience of working in the school which I now have a job in” Anon

EVOLVE

The Evolve Programme offers 6 months paid employment within the local authority or with 3rd sector organisations (subject to funding), giving participants the experience of fair and flexible employment and enhancing the prospects of permanent employment to suit their individual needs around parental responsibilities. Thriving Communities work with SAC departments and the 3rd sector interface (TSI) to identify appropriate employment opportunities.
