Dunure Youth Club

For the last two months Martha, Tegwen, Elsi, and Kyle have all helped to create two banners to put around the village.

We have all been going to Dunure Youth Club now for about six or seven years. First, we came up with ideas of what we wanted to put on the banners, we then found water-proof paints online so they could last longer in the weather conditions. With help from Claire Devlin, we painted the designs on both banners. We used materials found on the beach in Dunure to make them more environmentally friendly. In the summer holidays, when youth club wasn’t on, we arranged a few times to meet up to finish the banners. We were able to complete both banners before the Festival of the Sea, so we were able to welcome people to the village.

Making the banners allowed us to work as a team and use our creativity for the project. We all wanted to put together the banners to make Dunure a more welcoming place for visitors and brighten up the harbour for the community. We enjoyed the process of making them both, and all loved the way they turned out.
